I LOVE Louisiana

I'm sure if you've read much of this blog you know I'm from Louisiana, and that I love Louisiana. I love the people, the spirit, the food, the festivals (that are all about the food), the customs, the food, the spanish moss, the trees, the history, the crooked politics, the food, that my husband is from south Louisiana (which for those who don't know that is a complete other world and I'm a yankee since I'm from above I-10), that my husband can cook a jambalaya or gumbo that will make you want to kiss him (but you better not try LA girls have tempers of fire), the food, the diversity, and the football---LSU and Saints!!!!!

Today my FIL came in town bearing wonderful treats, first goodies from their organic garden (these veggies make others taste like crap), and meat!! He brought alligator sausage, boudin, and more boudin--yummy! I think you may have seen that the thing I love best is the food! It's nice to have things from home and to get to enjoy them here in the lone start state.

Another shout out to friends who are wanting to adopt!!! Please go onto facebook and like Help Andrew and Leslie Adopt a Child! Sweet friends from home have been through their own very trial filled road and they deserve a child and happiness as much as any people I know!

Happy 5th Anniversary to us!!!

Five years ago today I married my best friend! It was a great day, the weather was beautiful (albeit still hot in the south!!), and we were surrounded by people that we love! Our wedding was originally scheduled on the by weekend for LSU, but Katrina hit and messed up their schedule. When I realized that our wedding would now be on a game day, I immediately called the church to see if the 2 o'clock slot was still open, it was--hallelujah! We moved the wedding up, and were able to have an after party to watch the game that night with all of our friends and loved ones! It was the best day ever. Sean said he knew he picked the right person when I did that, pretty sure he's still feeling that way today! Notice his LSU vest and tie! All purple and gold! Thank you, Foxy, for the best five years ever! I love you more today than I did in 2005, and you still make me laugh all the time!!

One of my favorites, me waiting to walk into the church!!!
Headed to the reception...
Our first dance
I believe this is after cake cutting!
Me and my sweet daddy at the reception.
Us walking out of the ceremony--I was a happy girl! (still am!)
After some (a million) photos, a little silliness, quite typical of my Foxy!
We call this his victory pose, yep, he did it!
After the reception before the party to watch LSU play!

LSU room

I'm a bit late in doing it, but my dad came while I was at camp this summer and he and my mom painted our office/media room purple and gold!! It is amazing! We are thrilled with it! Sure beats the former plaid wallpaper!

The top left picture is of my alma mater Louisiana Tech playing LSU!! Great gift from Sis and BIL for Christmas one year!

Interruptions

Usually I don't care for Mondays. I'm not a morning person and it means getting up and coming to work, but today is different. I don't know why and I can't say what has changed, but I am in better spirits. The Cowboys losing last night really helped, but I think that it began in church.

Our pastor talked about interruptions, and I definitely feel that my life has been interrupted. My plans have been interrupted, and my heart has been interrupted. He said that interruptions are opportunities to trust God, and when you look at it that way, it really changes the whole feel of these unwanted things. Our entire adoption experience seems to have been an interruption on our lives, something very unwanted, something difficult and awful, leaving us again broken hearted. Still, it was a great opportunity to trust God, and we continue to do so. Firmly believing that our role in that whole experience was to put and end to the terror that horrible Darla was, so that no other family would have to suffer at her psychotic plots, too bad her hideous mother isn't locked up with her! It was an interruption and seems to have derailed our path to parenthood yet again, but sometimes we have to realize that God's plans are bigger than ours.

I will say that I never care for my sleep being interrupted (not sure if I've mentioned before how much I love my sleep), and with that said, my sweet hubby is headed for another sleep study tomorrow night. Praying we can get a solution to his snoring, so the sleeping won't be interrupted any longer!!

On a super happy note, I will be attending three, yes, three home LSU games the next 3 weeks. OH HAPPY DAYS!!! Geaux Tigers!! Too bad I can't grab a Saints game at the same time. Post tomorrow on football season and all the reasons why I love it!!!
